Wing Night Report

When this event was first discussed, we had no idea it would be such a success story on many levels.

We not only provided the best wings in the area for a reasonable price, we provided a opportunity for members of the greater Ilderton community to get together, as families, in a warm and safe environment.

And the best part was that all the profits from the wing nights were being deposited into a park fund to create another family environment in one of the new subdivisions in Ilderton.

The family environment was strengthened with the addition of some Medway students who provided entertainment and crafts for the children in attendance.

The event was attended by some dignitaries in the community and the Lions. District Governor Mike Tuxford attended with a group from the Lucan Lions. Other notables included World Skating Champion Scott Moir, Zone Chair Jeff Zavitz, and the current District Govenor, Eric Dolansky.

MPP Bev Shipley attended with one of his grandsons.

Even the Club President, Lion Bob Mooder, participated in the fun, shown below with the Medway students who entertained the children.

And what a success it has been.

The wing night committee started keeping data in November 2015.

An analysis of data revealed a steady increase in wing orders, both take-out and eat-in from a total of 356 in November 2015 to a total of 508 in April 2016, an increase of 42% in a 6 month period.

From October 2016 to May 2017, the total increased from 453 to 647, an additional increase of 42 %.

Needles to say, this didn’t happen without a lot of planning and hard work and some additional equipment.

So how did we do.

Over the past two years, we have deposited over $ 35,400 into the fund and the club has decided to continue the event until sufficient funds are available for this very worthwhile community resource that will benefit the children for years to come.

Congatulations on a very successful venture.

Wing Nights will resume in October 2018.
