We got it started but need your help to get it all finished!!!

The contract for the Medway Athletic Facilities Enhancement Project has been awarded to Robuck Construction.

Crews arrived early today to start the planning.

Some equipment was moved in on the weekend.

It has been a long two years since Lion Brad McGhie approached the membership to assist in the fundraising for this project. The collaboration between the Thames Valley District School Board and The Ilderton & District Lions Club with the assistance and support of the principal at Medway high school has made this process memorable for all the parties.

Thanks to the efforts of many including our members, other Lions Clubs, other service clubs and the generosity of former graduates and donations from many community members who are interested in making sure our students have the same opportunities as others, this memorable day has arrived.

There will be some juggling for the sports coaches and Medway staff in the the next year to accommodate the disruption that the updates will create but the final result will make it all worthwhile.

Unfortunately, all the updates were not able to be included because of a shortfall in funding.

The field, track, long and triple jump areas, the pole vault area, the steeple chase and the game clock are included in the current work scope.

Missing is the high jump area.

At contract award, we needed approximately $ 50,000 to complete the project, approximately 6% of the Lions share of the contract value.

We need your help to make this dream a reality and provide an updated facility for all the athletes to practice and compete on.

Lets bring the legacy of the “Medway Track Relay” back to Medway by completing this final aspect of the project.

For those who have made donations, we appreciate your support.

For those of you who haven’t yet, please give this some serious thought and if you can, please donate. No amount is too small. Details on the various recognition opportunities are provided in the “Donate Now” link on this website.

Help us help the future young athletes of our great communities who will make Medway their high school of choice.
