On December 11, 2020, the Ilderton Fairboard hosted a reverse Santa Claus parade and the Ilderton Lion’s welcomed the opportunity to participate. Our exhibit was near the start. Lion Nick Cake, who doubled as the Lion, was the mastermind behind the Ski Chalet theme and along with Nick, Lions Bob Mooder, Clint Smith, Jim Reeve, Ed Robb, Chris Christensen, Nick ( Medway student volunteer) and Glenn Phillips created the exhibit and assisted during teardown and the stringing of lights.
Our exhibit had the only bonfire and snow pile, brought in especially for the event.
This was the first such parade in Ilderton and from the number of automobiles that passed by our exhibit, I imagine it won’t be the last.
The community support was overwhelming. The parade was scheduled to begin at 6 PM and end at 8 PM but there was a steady stream of automobiles full of cute, happy smiling children and their pets, pass through until 9 PM.
Fortunately the weather co-operated after the heavy rains in the morning and from early reports the food bank donations of cash and non-perishable food was, as usual, exceptional.
What a great community to be part of.
