First Wing Night

The Ilderton Lions Club held its first Wing Night on October 14th at the Ilderton Community Centre and the community responded.

Over 4500 wings were cooked. Approximately 200 orders processed by approximately 20 Lions Club members.

Once again, the event was supported by an enthusiastic group of Medway students who entertained the children in attendance with face painting and other activities. They have become an integral part of this very successful event and because of that, the club presented them with yellow Lions tee shirts.

The club is enthusiastic about continuing this event as a gathering place for the community on the second Friday of each month from October to April with the proceeds going toward building a Lions park in the Timberwalk subdivision.

At this event, the Medway Athletic Enhancement Project got a big financial boost with the announcement of $450,000 from the Crich family and the Roy Davis Foundation. Because of their generous donations, this project will proceed.

In addition, due to other generous donations from Ilderton community residents, businesses and Medway alumni, and the proceeds of various fundraising events, the total amount collected or pledged has reached $520,000.

We still have a ways to go to reach our target amount and but we are confident that, if everyone in the community who share the dream of a modern, safe environment for our children and the community to use for a healthier lifestyle, come forward with a donation, regardless of its size, we will make this project a reality.

The target date for shovels in the ground is April 2017.

Please help us achieve our goal for the youth and other members of the community who will benefit from a successful project.
