Looking For A Few Good Men

The Ilderton & District Lions Club are looking for members of the community who want to join a dynamic service club with the goal to improve the well being of all members of the community with a focus on the youth’s needs but has a global interest in diabetes, sight preservation, hearing conservation and opportunities for youth.

Our various fundraising efforts are an opportunity for members to get together as well as an opportunity to serve the community.

Our Wing Nights, for example, were initiated with the goal to ” Build A Lions Park” in Timberwalk. We are 80 percent complete in achieving our goal. However, the big winners are the families who meet every second Friday ( usually) in a safe, clean, and family-friendly environment to enjoy the ” best” wings in the area; prepared by a group of dedicated Lions who are also enjoying the experience. The event is also supported by a group of Medway High School students who are contributing to the community who work with the young family members in an area set aside for crafts. A lot of work but also a lot of fun for everyone involved.

Also, we joined with the Thames Valley District School board recently, to work on a project to improve the sports facilities at Medway High School with the installation of a new latex covered track the can host area track meets again for elementary and secondary students. The project is on track to be started in the spring of 2018.

There are many other good news stories that you can be a part of in the community.

If you are interested in learning more about our club and want to be a part of the solution, come join us on February 13, 2018 at the Ilderton Community Centre, 6:30 PM for dinner and to hear more about what we do.

We need a head count by February 6th, so contact us through the ” contact us” tab above or contact Lion Jim McNaughton at 519-850-0052 or email at jlmcnaughton73@gmail.com or contact any Lion member.

Several students from the class joined the principal, Liz Gonser, Lions President ( 2015/16) Lion Boyce Powell and Lions Past President ( 2015/16) Lion Bob Mooder, and other family members and staff for this occasion.

Some examples of what we do, participate in annual food drive, host a seniors night, support Oxbow fun and sport events, support Medway Athletic Facilities Enhancement Project, support youth sports organizations, support graduation class projects plus many more.
