IKE CHRISTENSEN MEMORIAL BONSPIEL

27 JANUARY 2018

The annual Ilderton and District Lions bonspiel was once again held at the Ilderton Curling Club, as it has, for approximately 46 years. The lineup was reduced this year to a single draw composed of eight teams:

Glencoe District Lion, Ilderton & District Lions, London Visually Impaired Curlers, Lucan Lions, Poplar Hill Lions, Thamesford Lions, St Thomas Lions and Strathroy Lions.

The trophy was won by first time winners, Thamesford Lions Club.

The number of clubs participating this year was less than previous years causing us to go from the traditional two draws to a single draw. We are confident we will return to the traditional two draws next year, January 26, 2019

On a final note, the participation of the London Visually Impaired Curlers the past few years is significant in two respects, in offers them an additional opportunity to play in an organized bonspiel, increasing their individual and team skill levels, and in 1925 Helen Keller nominated Lions as “Knights of the Blind.

The committee was ably composed of the following Lions:
Murray McDonald, Boyce Powell, Ray Stanfield, Brad McGhie, Rob Andrews
